Lazio’s Lotito on Felipe Anderson: “I Didn’t Want to Sell Him, He’s a Second Son to Me”

Lazio president Claudio Lotito expressed his joy at the return of Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson.

Speaking in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti president commented on Felipe Anderson’s return to Lazio from West Ham.

I didn’t want to sell him, he’s a second son to me. Yesterday he was very happy and very motivated.

The 28-year-old Felipe Anderson returned to Rome from London yesterday. He was sold to the Hammers in the summer of 2018 for around €40 million but struggled to live up to that price tag in the English capital.

In his first season in England, the Brazilian winger made 36 Premier League appearances, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in that time, making a decent first impression.

Unfortunately for Felipe Anderson, the following season he only scored one goal and created four assists in 25 league games. This resulted in him being sent on loan last season to Porto, where he again failed to live up to his potential.

The hope is that returning to Rome will help Felipe Anderson find his best form again. He previously scored 34 goals and provided 39 assists in 177 matches for the Biancocelesti.
