Lazio defender Luiz Felipe highlighted his desire to stay with the Biancocelesti for the foreseeable future.
Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 24-year-old Brazilian defender first spoke about his physical condition.
I’m fine, in the holidays I trained to have a good training retreat. Now I want to continue in order to be in good shape for the first game of the season.
He commented on how it felt to learn coach Maurizio Sarri’s four-man defence and the movements expected.
It’s difficult at the start, because playing five years as a three and then switching to a four is not easy.
We work every day, the movements are different, it’s hard at the start but we’ll get there and do what the coach wants.
Luiz Felipe gave his thoughts on the 62-year-old Italian coach, who was brought in to replace Simone Inzaghi.
One of the best coaches in Italy and Europe, he asks us to give everything.
Inzaghi was here for five years, we thank him, he’s a great coach but he’s the past and now we’re focusing on what Sarri is asking us to do.
He touched on Lazio’s goalkeepers and their importance.
They give us a big hand, Reina has more experience, but Thomas is also a great goalkeeper who has given everything. It doesn’t change anything for me who is in goal.
The 24-year-old Brazilian commented on Biancocelesti defender Francesco Acerbi’s Euro 2020 success with the Azzurri.
We’ve written to him, we’re waiting for him at Formello.
The Lazio defender spoke about his decision to withdraw from Brazil’s squad for this summer’s Tokyo Olympics.
I’m sorry not to go, but I made the choice to be healthy.
I wouldn’t have been 100% if I’d gone, I preferred to stay and work to have the best season I’ve had since I’ve been here.
The player touched on the return of Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson, who re-joined Lazio three years after being sold to West Ham.
Felipetto is a brother to me, everyone knows his qualities, he has always made me feel like one of the family, I hope he can give everything because he is a great footballer.
I think he’ll do great things here.
Finally, Luiz Felipe discussed his contract and if he is planning to sign a renewal with the club.
Of course I want to stay. I feel good here, I feel like part of the family, I’ll leave the renewal to my agent and Tare.
I want to stay here for many years, because wearing this shirt is special, I can stay 10 or 15 years.
I want to win with this shirt and then maybe get picked for Brazil, but before the national team I have to do well here.
