The Lazio fanbase are divided following new full-back Elseid Hysaj’s decision to sing partisan song Bella Ciao for his initiation last night.
As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today, the 27-year-old Albanian full-back took part in a usual Serie A ceremony last night after his first match in a Biancocelesti shirt.

As often happens, new players introduce themselves to their teammates by singing a song in front of everyone after the match, with Hysaj choosing to sing the famous partisan song Bella Ciao. Various teammates can be heard singing along, with Luis Alberto posting a video of it to his Instagram.

Some Lazio fans have not taken this well, suggesting that he leave politics out of football or insulting the player. Other fans, however, are happy that Hysaj chose the song, hoping that it can help change the commonly-held perception that Lazio are closely associated with the far right.
