Greek Defender Baxevanos Leaves Lazio to Join Romanian Side Chindia

Greek defender Nikolaos Baxevanos left Lazio last week in order to join Romanian side Chindia.

As reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi yesterday, the 22-year-old Greek defender signed for the Biancocelesti in 2016 but never made a first-team appearance for the club, spending time on various loan spells in Greece and Romania.

It is unclear what deal saw Baxevanos leave Lazio for Chindia, with no official announcement from either party, but rumours suggest that the Greek defender left on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old Baxevanos made 35 Liga 1 appearances last season for Politehnica, for a total of 3029 minutes. In that time, he provided two assists and helped the side keep six clean sheets.

Baxevanos signed for Lazio in 2016 at the age of 17 from Greek side Aris. He spent three years in the Biancocelesti youth system before spending time on loan with Panionios, Botosani and Politehnica. His contract expired with the Roman club next year in 2022.
