Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri is trying out new signing Dimitrije Kamenovic as a central defender.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 21-year-old Serbian left-back was signed from Cukaricki in January and joined the Biancocelesti environment this summer, taking part in the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore.

Kamenovic was signed to reinforce Lazio’s left flank, but coach Sarri is now trying him out as a central defender because of his strong physique and the fact that he’s left-footed.

The 21-year-old Kamenovic is working hard in the pre-season retreat and we’ll have to wait and see if he impresses Sarri in the new role.

Contracted to Lazio until 2026, Kamenovic made 30 Super Liga Srbije appearances last season, for a total of 2391 minutes. In that time, he scored two goals and provided three assists, being one of the brightest young talents in the league.
