The appointment of Gerard Lopez as Bordeaux’s new president may allow Lazio to close out the deal for Toma Basic soon.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the French side have managed to avoid relegation to Ligue 2 for financial issues due to the change of ownership, with the Luxembourgish-Spanish businessman becoming the club’s new president.

The change of ownership may help Lazio to close out the deal soon, as they want the player to be part of the Biancocelesti environment ahead of the next pre-season training camp in Marienfeld, Germany.

The 24-year-old Basic, who is contracted to Bordeaux until 2022, made 34 Ligue 1 appearances last season, for a total of 2611 minutes. In that time, he scored four goals and provided one assist.
