Maurizio Sarri Was Furious With Lazio’s Lethargic Performance in Draw Against Padova

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri was furious with the squad’s attitude in their 1-1 draw with Serie C side Padova yesterday.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 62-year-old Italian coach was incredibly animated on the sidelines of the pre-season friendly in Auronzo di Cadore yesterday, unhappy with the lack of pressing and little progressive dribbling.

Sarri could be heard shouting comments like “We’re making an unbelievable mess” and “you can’t defend like this”, highlighting his anger at the lethargic performance.

The Biancocelesti squad should not take this to heart though, as there were some extenuating circumstances. The players were coming to the end of an intense training camp and were physically tired, as well as still needing a little more time to adapt to the movements requested by Sarri.

The highs and the lows have to be taken into account and despite the mistakes, Sarri still took the team and staff to dinner last night.

The squad will have a few days of holiday now in Rome before returning to Formello on Saturday of this week.
