Cagliari are also interested in signing Lazio linked defender German Pezzella.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Nazione (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the future of the Biancocelesti’s backline depends on what happens to Slovakian defender Denis Vavro.

The player has returned from his loan spell and joined the squad in Auronzo di Cadore, but did not fully convince coach Maurizio Sarri.

Should Vavro leave this summer then Lazio would look to sign another central defender for coach Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

One of the names on the Biancocelesti’s list is Fiorentina captain German Pezzella, who is contracted to the Florence-based club until next year in 2022.

Cagliari are also keen on Pezzella, but the 30-year-old Argentinian centre-back may decide to wait for an offer from a higher profile team.

The 30-year-old Pezzella made 32 Serie A appearances last season, for a total of 2748 minutes. In that time, he scored one goal, provided two assists and helped the side keep six clean sheets.
