Liquidity Ratio Is the Only Thing Stopping Lazio Signing Bordeaux’s Basic

The liquidity ratio issue is the only thing stopping Lazio from signing Bordeaux midfielder Toma Basic.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 24-year-old Croatian midfielder is the Biancocelesti’s top choice to strengthen coach Maurizio Sarri’s squad this summer, but they still haven’t closed out a deal for the player yet.

The reason is that Lazio’s incoming transfer market is limited by the liquidity ratio, meaning that they need to make some sales first in order to register new signings.

An agreement has been found on the basis of €7 million plus add-ons, figures close to the ones requested by the Ligue 1 side.

Basic’s contract expires with Bordeaux next year in 2022 and so they are forced to sell him this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Once some players have been sold, possibly Argentinian forward Joaquin Correa, then Lazio can close out this deal.
