Reports from Spain suggest that Lazio have almost reached an agreement with Benfica for Alejandro Grimaldo.

As reported by Spanish media outlet Todofichajes.com earlier today, the Biancocelesti are close to finalising a deal for the 25-year-old Spanish left-back, who is contracted to the Portuguese club until 2023.

The deal would see the Roman club pay close to around €20 million for Grimaldo, with the talks being facilitated by Benfica’s need to sell in order to generate funds.

Lazio will be unable to fully close out the deal for Grimaldo for the time being as they still need to solve the liquidity ratio issue, which is still blocking them from making any new signings official, including the already present Elseid Hysaj and Felipe Anderson.

The 25-year-old Grimaldo made 31 Portuguese Liga appearances last season, for a total of 2466 minutes. In that time, he scored two goals and provided 10 assists, impressing both offensively and defensively.
