Fenerbahce President Ali Koc on Vedat Muriqi: “He Will Continue at Lazio”

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has confirmed that Lazio forward Vedat Muriqi will not be returning to the Super Lig club.

Speaking after a Fenerbahce board meeting (via LazioNews24) earlier today, Ali Koc commented on the rumours that the 27-year-old Kosovan forward may return to the Turkish club this summer.

The rumours about Muriqi have no basis.

The player is on holiday for two days, they say he is here to return to Fenerbahce, but it is not true.

He will continue at Lazio.

Muriqi has had a difficult time in Rome since signing from Fenerbahce last September. The Kosovan forward arrived to Italy carrying a muscle strain that ruled him out of the pre-season preparations and he also suffered from Covid-19.

In his first season in Serie A under previous coach Simone Inzaghi, the 27-year-old Kosovan made 27 league appearances, for a total of 821 minutes. In that time, he only managed to score one goal, in a 3-1 win over Atalanta at the end of January.

Muriqi worked hard under new coach Maurizio Sarri in the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore and hopes to impress in his second season in Italy.
