Sarri Will Decide Whether Immobile or Milinkovic-Savic Will Be Lazio’s Captain

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri will decide the new club captain today, with his choices being either Ciro Immobile or Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti squad will fly to Germany today to begin the second part of their pre-season preparations, spending the next six days in a retreat in Marienfeld.

This will be a crucial week for the team, with important players like Immobile, Francesco Acerbi and Joaquin Correa returning, meaning Sarri is now preparing to make an important decision.

Today the 62-year-old Italian coach will decide whether to make the 31-year-old Italian striker the captain or the 26-year-old Milinkovic-Savic, who is the next most likely candidate.

Sarri wants to avoid any potential negative consequences in the dressing room and so is likely to pick Immobile, with Milinkovic-Savic then becoming the vice-captain.

The choice is all up to Sarri, who also wants to talk to the squad to get their thoughts. Immobile mostly wore the captain’s armband last season, with previous captain Senad Lulic kept on the sidelines for a large part of the season due to an injury.
