Atalanta May Try to Sign Bordeaux’s Basic Before Lazio Can Close Out the Deal

Bordeaux midfielder Toma Basic’s arrival at Lazio has been delayed and Atalanta have made a move for the player.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 24-year-old Croatian midfielder was expected to arrive in Rome yesterday but now his arrival has been postponed until a later date, with small issues still blocking a full agreement.

Atalanta have come forward for Basic and expressed their interest in him, which could potentially complicate matters as the Bergamo-based club are in a position to close out some deals this month.

Lazio, however, are continuing to work hard to try and finally reach a total agreement with the Ligue 1 side. Selling a player would also allow them to finalise a deal quickly.

The 24-year-old Basic, who is contracted to Bordeaux until 2022, made 34 Ligue 1 appearances last season, for a total of 2611 minutes. In that time, he scored four goals and provided one assist.
