Lazio full-back Mohamed Fares did not join the squad for the trip to Germany due to reasons unrelated to football.
As reported by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla earlier today, the 25-year-old Algerian full-back couldn’t join the squad for the trip to Marienfeld because some of his personal documents were stolen upon his return from a holiday in France.

This made it impossible to leave with the team, especially due to the strict anti-Covid regulations, and the club couldn’t manage to find a solution in time.

That’s the only reason why coach Maurizio Sarri didn’t include Fares, not being a tactical choice, although the player is still on the transfer list regardless.
The 25-year-old Fares, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, made 21 Serie A appearances last season, for a total of 1138 minutes. In that time, he provided one assist but struggled to live up to expectations, not performing as well as he did with SPAL.
