Lazio Reignite Interest in Departing Liverpool Winger Xherdan Shaqiri

Lazio have reignited their interest in Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri, who is destined to leave the Reds this summer.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti are considering signing the 29-year-old Swiss winger, who would complete coach Maurizio Sarri’s attacking trident, which also contains Ciro Immobile and Felipe Anderson.

Shaqiri has asked Liverpool for a transfer away this summer because he wants to play more consistent playing time, having only made five Premier League starts last campaign.

Lazio’s other two targets, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, are both non-EU nationals and there are currently no free slots in the squad, being filled by Felipe Anderson and Dimitrije Kamenovic.

This makes Shaqiri a more attractive option, but the Biancocelesti must work fast as there is less than a month left in this transfer window.

Shaqiri provided two assists in 14 Premier League appearances last season, but proved his abilities this summer for Switzerland in Euro 2020, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
