Lazio Defender Armini Close to Joining Serie C Side Piacenza on Loan

Lazio defender Nicolo Armini is close to joining Serie C side Piacenza on loan.

As reported by local Italian newspaper Libertà yesterday, Piacenza are keen to sign the 20-year-old Italian defender, who is one of the more impressive players in the Lazio Primavera squad, and may secure a loan deal for him very soon.

Piacenza are looking to fill a spot left open by the absence of former Roma man Pier Luigi Simonetti, who is currently recovering from a metatarsal foot injury, and Armini seems to be their target.

The 20-year-old Armini would thus join Piacenza on loan for the season in order to develop and earn regular first-team minutes, something that is unlikely to be found if he stayed in Rome with Lazio.

Armini, who is contracted to Lazio until 2024, made 16 Primavera 1 appearances last season, for a total of 1376 minutes. He also briefly appeared under previous coach Simone Inzaghi for the first team, playing four minutes in the final game of the season against Sassuolo.
