Lazio Forward Adekanye Suffered a Knee Injury Which May Require Surgery

Lazio forward Bobby Adekanye has injured his knee and may have to undergo surgery.

As reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 22-year-old Dutch winger did not join the squad for the retreat to Marienfeld, suffering a meniscus injury that may require a surgical intervention to be fixed.

Should Adekanye undergo surgery, he will remain on the sidelines for around two months, only returning in October. This is problematic for Lazio, who hoped to either send him out on loan or sell him this month. This injury all but rules out a move away now, leaving the player stuck in Rome.

Adekanye’s contract expires with Lazio next year in 2022 and now the Biancocelesti will have to evaluate what to do, with a renewal a possibility as it would allow him to go out on loan again, possibly in the winter transfer window.

For now, the 22-year-old Dutchman is only focused on his health, wanting to understand the best solution in order to allow him to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
