Serbian midfielder Milinkovic-Savic played an impressive diagonal pass, which beat four players, to the 31-year-old Italian, who calmed slotted the ball home in the far corner, giving Lazio a 1-0 lead.
Lazio remained in the driving seat, with both young talent Raul Moro and Milinkovic-Savic both sharing some chances to double the Roman club’s advantage.
At half time, Sarri took off Akpa Akpro and replaced him with Andre Anderson. Luis Alberto was left on the bench due to a slight muscle injury, which the club didn’t want to risk worsening in a friendly.
A cagey match followed, with the next highlight being the three substitutions made in the 59th minute. Raul Moro, Luiz Felipe and Lazzari came off, with Joaquin Correa, Adam Marusic and Patric coming on in their places.
