Lazio midfielder Gonzalo Escalante’s possible move to Olympique de Marseille could open to door for Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.
As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Ligue 1 side are keen on signing the 28-year-old Escalante, who hasn’t particularly convinced coach Maurizio Sarri in the pre-season preparations this summer.
Sarri is keen for more midfield reinforcements and Lazio’s interest in Torreira has been reignited, with Arsenal open to a loan deal with a buy option attached.

As such, selling Escalante to Olympique Marseille would open the door for the Biancocelesti to work on signing the 25-year-old Torreira, who is destined to leave the Gunners this month, not being a part of coach Mikel Arteta’s plans.
