Lazio’s Choices to Strengthen the Midfield Are Arsenal’s Torreira & Bordeaux’s Basic

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare wants to sign Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira and Bordeaux’s Toma Basic to strengthen the midfield.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti seem close to resolving their issues with the liquidity ratio, with president Claudio Lotito preparing a shareholders loan to resolve the problem.

Now Lazio’s goal is to strengthen coach Maurizio Sarri’s midfield, with Torreira and Basic the favourites of sporting director Tare.

For Basic, the Biancocelesti have already agreed to personal terms with the player and now just need to fully finalise the deal with Bordeaux, which is likely to close at around €10 million total.

The 25-year-old Torreira knows Serie A well, having already played for Pescara and Sampdoria, and would be a strong replacement for Lucas Leiva. He can be signed from Arsenal on a loan deal with a buy option attached.

Further developments are expected over the coming days, with less than three weeks left in the summer transfer window.
