Lazio Hoping to Renew Four Players’ Contracts Before Season Opener Against Empoli

Lazio are hoping to renew the contracts of four players before the start of the Serie A season next week.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti have already reached agreements with Adam Marusic and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro for their contract renewals, but need further work with Luiz Felipe and Thomas Strakosha.

Marusic and Akpa Akpro are set to renew their deals until 2025, with coach Maurizio Sarri impressed with both players in the pre-season preparations.

Regarding Luiz Felipe, an agreement with the player has apparently been reached, although an offer of around €30 million may convince Lazio to sell the 24-year-old Brazilian defender.

For Strakosha, however, things are a little more complicated. The Albanian goalkeeper’s contract expires next year in 2022 and there is a chance that he won’t sign a renewal, being unhappy at losing his starting spot to Spanish veteran Pepe Reina.
