Roma winger Pedro’s move to Lazio will make him the first player in 40 years to switch directly between the rivals.
As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 34-year-old Spanish winger is set to join the Biancocelesti on a free transfer very soon, being released from his contract by the Giallorossi two years early.
Pedro has agreed to sign a two-year contract with Lazio worth around €3 million net per season, the same wages he earnt with Roma.

This marks the first time in the last 40 years that a player has directly transferred between the two bitter rivals. The last time this occurred was in 1981, when defender Carlo Perrone left Lazio in 1981 to join Roma. A product of the Biancocelesti’s youth system, he didn’t settle with the rivals and returned a year later.

Another player who switched between Lazio and Roma was midfielder Franco Cordova, who joined the Biancocelesti after spending nine years with the Giallorossi.
