Empoli won the Serie B title last campaign, finishing four points ahead of second-place Salernitana. The Tuscan side won 19 of their 38 matches, drawing 16 and losing only three.

The newly-promoted side will work hard to secure their spot in the Italian top flight this campaign, hoping to avoid immediately dropping back into Serie B, as they did in the 2018/19 season.
