Igli Tare: “Correa Wants to Leave Lazio, There Is the Possibility With Inter”

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed that forward Joaquin Correa wants to leave the club.

Speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia (via LazioNews24) last night, the Albanian sporting director first commented on the decision to start Luis Alberto on the bench for yesterday’s Serie A opener against Empoli.

With Sarri you need a lot of intensity, Luis Alberto is a bit behind, it’s just a tactical choice. There is no situation.

Tare then moved onto providing a detailed update surrounding the future of the 27-year-old Correa, who has been the subject of many transfer rumours this summer.

Correa wants to leave Lazio, there is the possibility with Inter. We’ll see in the next few hours, he’s an important player for us. It depends on Inter.

There is also something abroad but he wants to stay in Italy. A real negotiation has never started, there is the will but nothing concrete. The agents are working to solve the problem.

Whoever stays here must be happy, it’s fundamental. We respect Correa because he has always behaved well, even in this period, he has been exemplary.

We have to be patient, it will be decided one way or the other.

The 27-year-old Correa, who is contracted to Lazio until 2024, made 28 Serie A appearances last season, for a total of 1945 minutes. In that time, he scored eight goals and provided four assists.

The Argentinian forward asked the club for a move away twice over the last few months and is keen to join Inter, where he will be reunited with coach Simone Inzaghi.

President Claudio Lotito wants around €30 million for Correa and is unlikely to offer any discounts on that figure for the Nerazzurri, especially considering the nature of Inzaghi’s departure earlier this summer.
