Lazio talisman Ciro Immobile has scored in the Biancocelesti’s opening game of the season for the sixth consecutive year.

As highlighted in a post on Lazio’s Twitter page last night, the 31-year-old Italian striker’s goal against Empoli in yesterday’s 3-1 win continued his trend of always scoring in the opening Serie A game of the season.

Immobile joined the Roman club in the summer of 2016 and has scored in every one of his season openers with Lazio, an impressive stat that highlights his importance to the squad.

The 31-year-old Immobile is the clear talisman of the squad and has been made captain by coach Maurizio Sarri, following the departure of long-time veteran Senad Lulic earlier this summer.

Contracted to Lazio until 2025, Immobile is hoping to win his fourth capocannoniere title this season, looking to close on Gunnar Nordahl’s record of five.

The Italian striker scored 20 Serie A goals and five Champions League goals last campaign under previous coach Simone Inzaghi.
