Genoa Want to Meet Lazio Today to Discuss Redundant Full-Back Fares

Genoa are planning to meet Lazio at some point today to discuss a possible deal for Mohamed Fares.

As reported by Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.com earlier today, the Rossoblu want to sign the 25-year-old Algerian full-back on a loan deal with a buy option attached in order to strengthen Davide Ballardini’s squad, who play in a 3-5-2 system.

Fares, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, did not impress coach Maurizio Sarri at the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore and was not brought along to the second pre-season retreat in Marienfeld.

The 25-year-old Fares was included in the Serie A squad registration list but is not expected to play an important role in coach Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Developments are expected later this week, with Lazio keen to find a new home for the former SPAL man, who seemingly no longer has a future in Rome under Sarri.
