Genoa are working to sign Lazio full-back Mohamed Fares and a deal could be reached soon.
As reported by Italian journalist and transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà last night, the Rossoblu are serious about signing the 25-year-old Algerian full-back, who is not part of coach Maurizio Sarri’s project in Rome.
The two clubs have been in talks and could reach an agreement on a loan deal with a €6-7 million buy option attached.
Genoa are looking to sign a new wing-back before the end of this transfer market who is suitable to coach Davide Ballardini’s 3-5-2 system.

Fares is more suited to a system suiting wing-backs and struggled to adapt to Sarri’s four-man defence at Lazio.
The two clubs will continue talks this week and will work to find a deal before the window closes, with the Roman club keen to find a new home for the former SPAL man.
