Hellas Verona’s Zaccagni Emerges as Alternative to Frankfurt’s Kostic for Lazio

Lazio may choose to sign Hellas Verona midfielder Mattia Zaccagni instead of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti are looking to secure a new forward now, following the agreement reached with Inter regarding Joaquin Correa.

The number one target is still Eintracht Frankfurt winger Filip Kostic, but the idea of signing Mattia Zaccagni has emerged. The 26-year-old Italian midfielder has not renewed his contract with Hellas Verona and would cost no more than €10-15 million, cheaper than the Serbian winger.

Lazio would then look to deploy Zaccagni in a more forward role under coach Maurizio Sarri, possibly deploying him behind Ciro Immobile in a 4-3-1-2 system, which is currently being considered.

The deal would be further facilitated by the strong relationship between Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito and Hellas Verona‘s Maurizio Setti.

Developments are expected soon, with Lazio likely to pull the trigger on signing a new winger immediately following the departure of Correa to Inter.
