New Signing Toma Basic May Start for Lazio Against Spezia on Saturday

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri is considering starting new signing Toma Basic in the upcoming match against Spezia.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 24-year-old Croatian trained with his new teammates yesterday afternoon, following his medicals and signing with the Roman club.

The former Bordeaux midfielder is already a candidate to start in the upcoming Serie A clash against Spezia, having been tested next to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Lucas Leiva in yesterday’s session.

Sarri needs to decide between three options for Lazio’s game on Saturday: confirming the role of Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, relaunching Luis Alberto or immediately deciding to start Basic, who he spoke to at length at the end of the training session.

Considering that Sarri decided to start Spanish winger Pedro in the season opener against Empoli on a day or two after his arrival, there is a genuine chance that Basic will be in the starting 11 on Saturday evening.
