Sporting Gijon Negotiating With Lazio for Redundant Winger Jony

Spanish second-tier side Gijon are negotiating with Lazio for unneeded winger Jony.

As reported by Spanish media outlet Elgoldigital.com earlier today, the Spanish side want to sign the 30-year-old winger on a loan deal with a €5 million buy option attached, whilst the Roman club would prefer a permanent transfer.

The further complicate the operation, Gijon will not be able to match Jony’s wages at Lazio, and so he’ll have to lower his salary if he wants the move. He currently earns around €1 million net per season in Rome.

Talks are ongoing between Gijon and Lazio but it’s a complicated deal, with only a few days left to secure Jony’s move to Spain.

Jony previously spent four years with Gijon, from 2013 to 2016 and 2017 to 2018. Considering how little he has played with Lazio over the last few years, it is likely that he will find a new, or possibly old, home in the coming days.
