Lazio are looking for a new central defender and are interested in Sassuolo’s Gian Marco Ferrari and free agent Shkodran Mustafi.
As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) earlier today, coach Maurizio Sarri wants five centre backs in the Biancocelesti squad and with Slovakian defender Denis Vavro set to move to Spain on loan, a reinforcement is needed.
The two names that Lazio are linked to are Ferrari and Mustafi. The Roman club have registered their interest in the former and the latter is currently a free agent, with Torino and Adana Demispor both keen on him.

The transfer market closes next week on Tuesday, so the race against time has begun for Lazio, although free agents can be signed after the closure regardless.

The 29-year-old Ferrari is contracted to Sassuolo until 2023 and is an experienced and strong centre-back. Mustafi, who is the same age as Ferrari, did not impress on loan last season with Schalke and so will be looking to prove himself again.
