Lazio to Sell Mohamed Fares to Genoa in Definitive Transfer Worth €7m

Lazio will sell unneeded wing-back Mohamed Fares in a definitive transfer to Genoa.

As reported by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla (via LazioNews24) last night, a deal between the two parties has been reached for a sum close to €7 million, but with a different formula than what was initially reported.

The deal is not a loan deal with a buy option attached, but instead an outright sale, with the 25-year-old Algerian wing-back joining on a definitive transfer.

Lazio will not sustain any capital losses on Fares, considering that they paid €6.5 million plus add-ons for him a year ago.

Genoa were incredibly keen to sign the 25-year-old Algerian wing-back, believing him to be the perfect option to strengthen coach Davide Ballardini’s squad.

Coach Maurizio Sarri was not impressed with Fares during the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore and so wasn’t included in the project in Rome, although he was initially registered on the squad registration list.
