Lazio duo Ciro Immobile and Francesco Acerbi have been called up for Italy’s upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

As reported by Italian media outlet Cittaceleste yesterday, the pair will be joining the Azzurri setup for their three upcoming qualifying matches against Bulgaria, Switzerland and Lithuania.

Lazio full-back Manuel Lazzari was also called up by coach Roberto Mancini, but the 27-year-old Italian was forced to withdraw due to a calf injury.

The former Sassuolo defender, on the other hand, is likely to play second fiddle to Giorgio Chiellini, although he could still earn some minutes.

The Azzurri are currently top of their 2022 World Cup qualifying group, having already won three games so far. Their toughest opponent in the group is Switzerland, who have won both of their games so far as well.
