The relationship between Lazio and goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is at an all-time low and a contract renewal seems unlikely.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 26-year-old Albanian shot-stopper is having a hard time being the second choice goalkeeper behind Spanish veteran Pepe Reina, being frustrated on the sidelines.

With his contract expiring next year in 2022 and less than 48 hours left in the transfer window, Strakosha’s fate remains uncertain.

Lazio May Look to Sign AC Milan Defender Alessio Romagnoli Should Vavro Leave

It’s hard to imagine Lazio selling Strakosha in the remaining hours of the window, considering that he’s a step above any other backup goalkeeper in the club.

Therefore, the Albanian goalkeeper is more likely to leave the Roman side at the end of the season on a free transfer.

Lazio Coach Sarri After 6-1 Win vs Spezia: “The Important Thing Is to Have Fun”

Coach Maurizio Sarri is unbothered, as he is convinced by Reina and will continue to start the former Napoli and Liverpool man.

This would be a painful end to Strakosha’s time in Rome, considering that the Albanian arrived in 2013 and has made 177 appearances for the club.
