Genoa Pushing to Sign Lazio Full-Back Fares Before Transfer Deadline

Genoa have had new talks with Lazio for full-back Mohamed Fares, wanting to sign him before the transfer window closes tonight.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 25-year-old Algerian full-back is keen for a change of scenery, wanting to find more consistent playing time and more of a chance to show his abilities.

An agreement between Lazio and Genoa is close but the two parties still need to reach a full agreement.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito values Fares at around €7 million and is refusing to budge from that valuation, although further talks with Genoa could still change that.

The 25-year-old Fares, who is contracted to the Roman club until 2025, made 21 Serie A appearances last season, for a total of 1138 minutes. In that time, he provided only one assist.

Developments are expected later today, with both parties keen to reach a deal.
