Official: Lazio Midfielder Biagio Morrone Joins Monopoli on Loan

Lazio midfielder Biagio Morrone officially joined Serie C side, Monopoli, on loan last month.

As announced in an official statement last month, the 21-year-old Italian midfielder has joined the third-tier side on a season-long dry loan deal, where he will be hoping for regular playing time as he continues his development.

Morrone, who is contracted to Lazio until 2023, joined the Roman club in January 2020 from Salernitana, before joining Rieti on loan.

Following his spell with Rieti, Morrone joined Foggia on a loan deal, where he made 19 Serie C appearances, for a total of 711 minutes, before returning to Lazio.

The 21-year-old Italian is a defensive midfielder who can also play in a more central role, being flexible in the midfield.

He only earned six starts last campaign, so Morrone will be hoping for more regular playing time under coach Alberto Colombo.

Morrone is one of a variety of unneeded Lazio players who left the club on loan in this summer transfer window.
