Genoa Forward Caicedo: “Lazio Has Been My Most Important Story”

Felipe Caicedo highlighted his special relationship with Lazio following his move to Genoa.

Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei earlier today, the 33-year-old Ecuadorian forward first discussed his emotions regarding his time with the Biancocelesti.

Hearing again my goals in Lazio and this great adventure gives me the shivers.

Beautiful moments, extraordinary memories that will always remain in my heart.

The Genoa forward spoke about which of his late goals at Lazio meant the most to him.

All of them exciting, but the one I enjoyed the most was the one in the 98th minute against Cagliari.

It meant a lot to me and to the team, who were on a run of incredible victories that put us on top of the league with Juventus.

He also commented on his desire to stay close with fans on social media.

I like to stay close to the fans through social media, I like to respond to the demonstrations of affection, it must also be out of respect.

It’s the least they deserve, they gave me an extra boost. I knew about the Cesarini zone, I looked into it and I’m happy to have overcome it.

Caicedo discussed if he is as loved by Lazio fans as star striker Ciro Immobile.

I know there’s a lot of affection for me, they’ve always shown it to me, little by little I’ll realise the extent of the emotions.

Lazio has been my most important story, to feel the love of the fans is something that cannot be explained. To be equal to Ciro is an important victory, he made the real history of Lazio.

The Ecuadorian forward spoke about the Coez song ‘Faccio un Casino’, which was retooled by Biancocelesti fans to be ‘Faccio un Caicedo’.

I got to know it little by little, it’s still my official song! My wife and family are at home in Rome.

It’s our second home and she thanks all the fans on social media. We’re happy about that.

He commented on if Lazio would have won the Scudetto in the 2019/20 season, which was derailed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Not just according to me, according to everyone. Covid hit us at our best moment. We were hungry, confident, nobody believed in it more than us.

Then that happened, but without Covid we would have won the Scudetto.

Finally, Caicedo bid a fond farewell to the Lazio fans, who still faithfully support the 33-year-old on his Twitter page.

I wanted to thank all the fans for their affection, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I bid you a heartfelt farewell.

Amami o faccio un Caicedo per sempre!

The 33-year-old Caicedo has signed a three-year contract with Genoa following his departure from the Biancocelesti, in a deal that cost the Rossoblu around €2 million.
