Lazio will have to compete with Juventus to sign AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli next summer.
As reported by Italian media outlet Calciomercato.it last night, the 26-year-old Italian defender’s contract expires with the Rossoneri next year in 2022 and so far a renewal doesn’t seem likely, with coach Stefano Pioli preferring other options in his defence.
Romagnoli has been linked with a move to the Bianconeri for a long time now and the Turin-based club are looking for strong options to be replacements for the aging Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.
Lazio are also keen to sign Romagnoli, who is a well-known Biancocelesti fan, and are keen to sign him on a free transfer next summer as well.

The main obstacle currently is the player’s wages, as he earns around €6 million net per season currently, too high for Lazio but more accessible for Juventus.
The Turin-based club also have a good relationship with Romagnoli’s agent Mino Raiola, unlike AC Milan, and they also appreciate the idea of signing him on a free transfer.
