Lazio Set to Sign AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli on a Free Transfer Next Summer

Lazio are looking to sign AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer next summer.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioNews24) yesterday, the Biancocelesti did not sign a new central defender this summer, forcing coach Maurizio Sarri to rely on Patric and Stefan Radu for his backups.

The defence is not fully convincing, but Sarri suggested to the club that it wasn’t of the highest priority in the summer transfer window, postponing it until next year.

Romagnoli pushing Milan for Lazio move

Lazio are keen to sign the 26-year-old Romagnoli next summer, following his contract expiry with AC Milan. The Rossoneri captain is a known Biancocelesti fan and would gladly join the club next year on a free transfer.

Pellegatti: Lazio an unlikely destination as Romagnoli’s salary demands are revealed

AC Milan have no intention of renewing his contract, so a move to Lazio makes sense. The main obstacle is his salary, which is around €6 million net per season, and so the Italian defender would have to lower that if he wanted to join the Roman club.
