Sarri Is Considering Using a False 9 for Lazio With Either Pedro or Felipe Anderson

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri is considering using a false nine in his system, using either Pedro or Felipe Anderson in the role.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 62-year-old Italian coach is currently working hard with the squad in Formello, trying to prepare as best as possible for the tough month of fixtures ahead of the Roman club.

With Ciro Immobile and Vedat Muriqi both absent on international duty, the idea of repeating what he did with Dries Mertens at Napoli and Eden Hazard at Chelsea is starting to emerge; using a false nine.

In this role, Sarri would either use Felipe Anderson or Pedro. Both players are versatile and could provide Sarri with a new tactical variation in his 4-3-3 system at Lazio; the Spanish veteran has already played as a false nine at both Barcelona and Chelsea.

Immobile is still the main striker, of course, but when he’s not on the pitch, then Sarri may look to trial his false nine idea once again.
