Immobile’s Work With Sarri at Lazio Could Help Him in Mancini’s Italy Squad

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile’s work with Maurizio Sarri this season could help him understand Roberto Mancini’s system better.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 31-year-old Italian striker has consistently disappointed for the Azzurri in recent years, despite playing a major role in this summer’s victorious Euro 2020 campaign.

When playing for Italy, it seems as if Immobile struggles in the 4-3-3 system, despite the fact that he has excelled playing in that formation in the past at Pescara under coach Zdenek Zeman, playing alongside Lorenzo Insigne and Marco Sansovini, where he scored 28 goals.

For Italy, he struggles to find consistency and his decisiveness in front of goal, but working with Sarri could help him to understand Mancini’s system and tactical requests better, especially considering that the Azzurri coach doesn’t have many great alternatives in the centre forward role.
