Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo thought that AC Milan were the favourites ahead of this weekend’s league clash.

Speaking to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 36-year-old Italian looked ahead to the upcoming match between the Biancocelesti and the Rossoneri.

Pioli had already shown us that he is a great coach. Now he’s one of the best prepared and he’s making AC Milan grow well. I’ll feel some emotions, but now I’ll look ahead and I want to focus only on the match.

It will be an entertaining match, I think AC Milan the are favourites because the team has already been working with Pioli for two years, while Sarri is just starting out, but for Lazio it will be an important test to see how far they have come with the new coach.

He then gave his thoughts on the new Lazio under coach Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri is the right coach in the right place, he’s great. You can already see the mark of his game with a maniacal application, attentive to detail.

You can also see that the team needed to absorb new ideas. At the end of last season there was a feeling among us that the Inzaghi cycle was over and that something needed to be changed.

Finally, Parolo spoke about the return of Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson.

I’ve seen him do incredible things on the pitch.

If Felipe has consistency, he can become Lazio’s main man even under Sarri.

Sarri Considering Using Both Muriqi & Immobile Against AC Milan This Weekend

Lazio have gotten off to an incredibly strong start to the season, winning their first two games against Empoli 3-1 and Spezia 6-1, putting them top of the Serie A table on goal difference.

The match against AC Milan will be their first top test of the season, but there’s an understanding that it’ll take the squad some time to fully implement the ideas and movements required by Sarri.

This will be a tough month for Lazio, with a variety of difficult fixtures including two Europa League matches and the derby against Roma.
