Lazio Star Ciro Immobile Leaves Azzurri Camp Due to a Muscle Injury

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has left Italy’s training camp after suffering a muscle injury.

As reported by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio last night, the 31-year-old Italian was forced to withdraw from the Azzurri squad after suffering a muscular injury in a training session.

As such, the former Torino and Pescara man will not feature in this evening’s 2022 World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.

Immobile has returned to Rome and is being closely monitored by Lazio, who are hoping that the 31-year-old Italian striker will be fit in time to face AC Milan this weekend.

The player has gotten off to a strong start to this season, scoring four goals in the opening two games against Empoli and Spezia, including a first-half hat-trick against the latter.

Immobile struggled to impress for the Azzurri in this international break, failing to score in the draws against Bulgaria and Switzerland, attracting much criticism from fans and the press alike.
