Lazio travel to the San Siro on September 12 to take on AC Milan in Matchday 3 of the 2021/22 Serie A.
Milan expert Miguel Agyei states that manager Stefano Pioli will likely approach the match against Maurizio Sarri’s Biancocelesti in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
The Rossoneri are in great form thus far, winning both of their matches against Sampdoria (1-0) and Cagliari (4-1) despite the absences in their squad.
While Olivier Giroud will be out due to a positive COVID-19 test, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to reclaim his starting position after recovering from surgery. However, Ante Rebic has also been tested in training as a striker, so he could get the nod.
Franck Kessie returning will be a big boost for Milan. He allows the club to comfortably control the midfield in matches due to his ball retention, active physicality and tackling ability. Unfortunately, Rade Krunic returned to Milanello from his commitments with the Bosnian national team with a muscle problem and is unlikely to be called up for the match against Lazio.
The only other doubt concerning Milan’s starting lineup is on the right flank. Alessandro Florenzi could take Alexis Saelemaekers spot to try and provide more assurance and contain Elseid Hysaj.
Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic
