Ahead of AC Milan vs Lazio, Miguel Agyei identified three players that the Biancocelesti should keep an eye on.
Both teams are off to a good start in Serie A, as they are undefeated with two wins apiece. Stefano Pioli’s Milan defeated Sampdoria (1-0) and Cagliari (4-1), while Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio defeated Empoli (4-1) and Spezia (6-1).
While various players have earned praise from fans and managers alike, those who are currently in form for the Rossoneri include right-back Davide Calabria, central defensive midfielder Sandro Tonali and attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz.
Calabria has reformed himself as one of the best right-backs in Serie A and received a call-up to the Italy national team during the international break as a result. He has developed into a team leader at Milan as he currently holds the captain’s armband while Alessio Romagnoli patiently waits for an opportunity off the bench.
21-year-old Tonali is off to a great start, proving that he deserves a starting role and that he wants to play a big role with Milan this upcoming year. He has been shining as he has leaped with the opportunities presented to him due to Franck Kessie’s injury. He scored a fantastic goal against Cagliari and finished the game with a 91.2% pass accuracy after just 68 minutes on the pitch.
While Diaz has some big shoes to fill, thus far he has stepped up to the task and embraced the number ten position. Heading into Matchday 3, Diaz has a goal and an assist in two matches which is quite an impressive start. Last season he struggled to break into the team but finished the campaign with four goals and three assists. It is safe to assume he will break that tally this season.
