AC Milan Midfielder Bakayoko Deserved Red Card for Foul on Lazio Defender Acerbi

Referee Daniele Chiffi made a mistake by not giving AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko a red card against Lazio yesterday.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Italian referee was a major factor in the Biancocelesti’s poor performance against the Rossoneri at the San Siro yesterday, with the most major error involving Bakayoko and Acerbi.

Coach Sarri Furious With Lazio’s Performance Against AC Milan Yesterday

The 27-year-old Bakayoko should have been sent off in the 63rd minute when he clearly stood with weight on the 33-year-old Acerbi’s ankle. Instead, he was only given a yellow card by Chiffi, with the VAR also failing to intervene. Errori Arbitrali also analyzed the situation on Twitter stating that Bakayoko was lucky to only receive a yellow card for the challenge.

Lazio Disappoint in First Challenge of the Season, 2-0 Loss to AC Milan

A sending-off at this stage would have majorly changed the game for Lazio, who went on to concede to AC Milan only a minute later.

The Biancocelesti eventually lost to the Rossoneri 2-0, a painful result for coach Maurizio Sarri, who is furious with the team’s lacklustre and lethargic performance in the Lombard capital.
