AC Milan Coach Pioli: “We Won Deservedly, Putting in More Quality Than Lazio”

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli was satisfied with his squad’s performance in yesterday’s 2-0 win over Lazio.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN (via LazioNews24) after the victory over the Biancocelesti last night, the 55-year-old Italian coach first commented on yesterday’s performance.

We had to show that AC Milan can play well, convinced of their potential.

We won deservedly, putting in more quality than Lazio.

He touched on the strengths and weaknesses of 22-year-old Portuguese forward Rafael Leao, who scored the opener against the Roman club.

Leao is already a strength because of what he’s doing. Leao is only 22 years old, his third season in Italy. He must become more effective in the finishing phase, he must become meaner.

Like Rebic, we have balance with everyone, great sacrifice and availability of everyone. In this way we have fun and we entertain our fans.

The former Lazio coach discussed his decision to leave Swedish veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the bench until the second half.

We have to see if it tempts Ibra. Ibra hasn’t played for four months, I’m pleased he’s made a good start.

Florenzi didn’t play many balls but his position in the first half gave us a lot of advantages. We’re trying to find the right positions to develop our attacking play.

The AC Milan coach spoke about the return of the 39-year-old Swedish forward in the squad.

Ibra never gets old, apart from his talent he has fire and passion inside.

He competes for everything, to be the best. In this way he doesn’t feel his age.

Pioli spoke about the work that he is doing with the squad and the various players at his disposal.

I believe that every player has his own moral characteristics. You have to strike the right chords. But when you see experienced players teaching you how to train, it’s easier for me.

Today we were missing Giroud, Messias, Kjaer, the mentality is growing. We are a lively team and we want to leave the pitch with satisfaction for what we have done.

We can and must improve, but we must continue with this spirit, combining quality and sacrifice. We want to win every game and improve when we lose.

Coach Sarri Furious With Lazio’s Performance Against AC Milan Yesterday

The 55-year-old Italian coach touched on his various tactics in the win over Lazio.

I think we were very good with Leao and Diaz in the defensive phase, covering almost three players.

In this way we were always in a numerical superiority pressing Luis Alberto and Milinkovic-Savic.

It was an excellent performance but now we have to recover well because we have a big challenge ahead of us on Wednesday.

Finally, Pioli spoke about his and AC Milan’s dreams for this season.

Our dreams are and will always remain great.

But we have to dream at night and work during the day to achieve them.
