Basic Following Debut for Lazio vs AC Milan: “Overjoyed to Be On the Pitch”

Lazio midfielder Toma Basic was happy to have finally made his debut for the club in the 2-0 loss to AC Milan on Sunday.

As seen in a post on his Instagram page yesterday, the 24-year-old Croatian midfielder expressed his joy at having finally appeared for the Biancocelesti under coach Maurizio Sarri, following his signing from French side Bordeaux last month.

Below is Basic’s statement from his Instagram page:

So happy to play my first game in Serie A for Lazio.

Yesterday was a difficult night for us.. but we will give everything to achieve our goals.

The 24-year-old Basic, who is contracted to Lazio until 2026, was brought on in the 74th minute of the 2-0 loss to AC Milan, coming on in place of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who did not impress in the defeat.

The player will likely be used as an extra option in the midfield and is seemingly comfortable in all three roles of coach Maurizio Sarri’s system, although he is most likely going to play a backup role for Luis Alberto and Milinkovic-Savic, at least for the time being.
