Assistant Coach Giovanni Martusciello to Lead the Squad for Lazio vs Cagliari

Lazio assistant coach Giovanni Martusciello will take charge for the next league game against Cagliari.

As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, coach Maurizio Sarri received a two-game suspension following his red card after the 2-0 loss to AC Milan on Sunday, and a successful appeal seems unlikely.

Due to this, his assistant coach Martusciello will take his place on the bench, leading the team for their next league match against Cagliari on Sunday.

Martusciello has always worked closely with Sarri, with the only exception being when the 62-year-old Italian coach moved to Chelsea; his assistant stayed at Napoli because he’d given his word to do so.

The 50-year-old Italian coach is enthusiastic about his new adventure with Sarri at Lazio and so he knows the system and tactics well enough to lead the squad for a couple of matches.

There is, however, a chance that Lazio’s appeal will be successful, allowing Sarri to return to the bench.
