Galatasaray Coach Terim: “They Are All Very Strong, Lazio Will Finish First”

Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim touched on the young squad he’ll play deploying to face Lazio this evening.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via LazioNews24) yesterday, the 68-year-old Turkish coach first spoke about the tough Europa League group ahead of the Super Lig side.

Marseille, Lazio, Galatasaray and Lokomotiv are established clubs with European experience. Frankly, it’s a group that if it were a Champions League draw no one would find strange.

They are all very strong. Lazio will be first, Sarri has formed a team that can play for the Scudetto.

Marseille are off to a good start, Lokomotiv are used to doing well in Europe and can do important things.

Lazio have a good team, it would be unfair to say that they can be better than this because in the league they started well, until the match against Milan.

Terim then discussed this evening’s match against Lazio, who are looking to bounce back after a painful 2-0 loss to AC Milan.

Against Lazio there is a new Galatasaray team and the average age is low. However, I trust in every player, they will certainly make mistakes, but we will try to minimise them.

Our youngsters should show themselves even more on this pitch. We didn’t get off to a good start and now, two away games later, Lazio at home.

It’s the first time we’re playing at home, we haven’t lost 8 of the last 10 games even though we’ve played away. Every game in the group is tough.

We want to play for qualification to the last game of the group.

Galatasaray have had an inconsistent start to the season, securing two wins and two draws after the first four games.

Last campaign, the Turkish side finished second in the Super Lig, losing out on the league title to Besiktas on goal difference.

UEFA Europa League Preview: Galatasaray vs Lazio

Lazio will be looking to impress in this group stage, being one of the teams in the competition that could easily make a strong run to the final, should the cards line up right.

The Biancocelesti’s season started well, with two wins over Empoli and Spezia, but a 2-0 loss to the Rossoneri on Sunday has shaken the confidence a little.
